Vic­to­rian light-up, Christ­mas pa­rade next week­end

AMHERST - Amherst is pre­par­ing to kick­off the 2014 Christ­mas sea­son with its an­nual light-up and pa­rade next week­end.

The Vic­to­rian Christ­mas Light-Up is set for Fri­day in Vic­to­ria Square be­gin­ning with Christ­mas mu­sic at 6 p.m. and the light-up at 7 p.m.

The LED hol­i­day light ex­change is re­turn­ing at 6:30 p.m. in part­ner­ship with Ef­fi­ciency Nova Sco­tia. Peo­ple can bring two strands of old Christ­mas lights to re­ceive one strand of LED lights. This is while sup­plies last.

In part­ner­ship with the Cum­ber­land Y Ser­vice Club, the Christ­mas Pa­rade will take place on Satur­day, Nov. 22 be­gin­ning from the Town Square Mall Park­ing lot at 6 p.m.

Ap­pli­ca­tions are avail­able at town hall, Vogue Op­ti­cal (4 Robert An­gus Dr.) and at www.amherst.ca .

This year’s them is the 12 Decades of Christ­mas in cel­e­bra­tion of Amherst’s 125th birth­day.

Pa­rade com­mit­tee mem­bers are re­mind­ing en­trants that at the end of the pa­rade all floats must exit out East Vic­to­ria Street and un­load par­tic­i­pants at a con­ve­nient lo­ca­tion.

En­trants can­not un­load par­tic­i­pants on ei­ther Aca­dia or Ratch­ford streets.
