Victorian light-up, Christmas parade next weekend
AMHERST - Amherst is preparing to kickoff the 2014 Christmas season with its annual light-up and parade next weekend.
The Victorian Christmas Light-Up is set for Friday in Victoria Square beginning with Christmas music at 6 p.m. and the light-up at 7 p.m.
The LED holiday light exchange is returning at 6:30 p.m. in partnership with Efficiency Nova Scotia. People can bring two strands of old Christmas lights to receive one strand of LED lights. This is while supplies last.
In partnership with the Cumberland Y Service Club, the Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, Nov. 22 beginning from the Town Square Mall Parking lot at 6 p.m.
Applications are available at town hall, Vogue Optical (4 Robert Angus Dr.) and at www.amherst.ca .
This year’s them is the 12 Decades of Christmas in celebration of Amherst’s 125th birthday.
Parade committee members are reminding entrants that at the end of the parade all floats must exit out East Victoria Street and unload participants at a convenient location.
Entrants cannot unload participants on either Acadia or Ratchford streets.
