Zombie sightings along Fundy Shore

The Citizen-Record (Cumberland) - - COMMUNITY - Crystal Melanson

Hello Readers, hope you all had a super week and guess what? Cold and flu season is upon us.

In case you haven’t heard someone within ear shot, hacking, coughing, or wheezing, consider yourself warned. I can’t tell you how surprised I was the other day when I walked into a store at eight thirty in the morning and was told that I was the second person in already that day to buy cough drops. This, while someone was coughing in line behind me. It seemed everywhere I went that morning I heard the same hacking cough coming from others who had been infected. No wonder I was sick, too. It was certainly going around.

Though I blamed my particular infection on my husband who had been doing the zombie walk for three days, you know the one - drag yourself from the covers of the bed to the medicine cabinet for a lemon drink, cough drops, or some kind of over-thecounter combo drug that helps with the dry cough, wet cough, fever, chills, body aches, snoring — sorry, nothing really works for the snoring husband —and then crawl right back into bed again.

So while I was in town I shopped for more remedies — total cold and flu drinks, stronger cough drops, and while we were already popping vita- min C like smarties at home and taking a spoonfuls of honey here and there, when it comes to the cold and flu, you just got to put in your time. Nothing really shortens your recovery quite as well as good old rest and taking care of yourself.

Have a great week everyone.
