Arthur “Art” Hunter

It is with sad­ness that we must an­nounce the peace­ful pass­ing of Arthur “Art” Hunter, age 76, of Springhill. Arthur passed away at All Saints Hos­pi­tal, Springhill on Satur­day, Novem­ber 22, 2014.

Born De­cem­ber 5, 1937 in Springhill, he was a son of the late Arthur War­ren & Mar­garet (Murphy) Hunter.

Grow­ing up in Springhill as a young boy, he was an avid base­ball player. In later years a great bowler which he was very proud of and he won many tro­phies. In later years he was in Au­to­mo­tive Business work­ing for Shep­pards Au­to­mo­tive. He then moved to Monc­ton where he worked for Sum­mer Tire as a parts pur­chaser for 35 years. He fin­ished his ca­reer at Ox­ford Frozen Foods. Art made many friends dur­ing his work­ing ca­reer. Art loved to dance and have fun.

Art is sur­vived by his loving com­pan­ion Jan­ice Leggett and her daugh­ters Bar­bie and Jan­ice Lee and their dog, Honey, his faith­ful com­pan­ion that he loved very much; Art is also sur- vived by his son Ger­ald (Elma) Hunter of Ox­ford; daugh­ter Lorna Jean (Michael) Weaver of Al­bert Mines, NB; two grand­chil­dren, Brandy WeaverJohn­ston (Brian) and Ja­son Weaver (Lisa); great grand­chil­dren, Sammy , Dustin, Dream & Chelsea Weaver; as well as sev­eral nieces and neph­ews;and brothers, Danny (Jesse) and Larry (Lorna).

Be­sides his par­ents, he was pre­de­ceased by his wife, Jean, brothers, Clayton Murphy, Ken­neth Hunter; sis­ter, Kay Hunter.

Ar­range­ments have been en­trusted to A H Brown Fu­neral Home, 5 McFar­lane St., Springhill, NS (902-667-8777) where vis­it­ing hours will take place on Wed­nes­day, from 1 to 3 pm.

The fu­neral ser­vice will follow im­me­di­ately at 3 pm on Novem­ber 26, 2014 at 3 pm. Burial will follow in the Hill­side Ceme­tery, Springhill.

In lieu of flow­ers, memo­rial do­na­tions may be made to the Cana­dian Can­cer So­ci­ety, or the Cana­dian Di­a­betic As­so­ci­a­tion.
