Annual spring concert at band hall May 28
The Parrsboro Band Association will hold its annual spring concert on Sunday, May 28, at “The Hall” on King Street. The music will begin at 7 p.m.
Performing will be Parrsboro Jazz Group, King St. Strummers, Parrsboro Citizens’ Choir and The Elastic Big Band.
The band hat will be passed around during the concert. Donations will go toward keeping music alive in the hall.
Memberships will be available that night so if you have not renewed your membership, you can do it that night or at any event at the hall. When there is a special event going to take place at the hall, members find out first. It is $15 for single or $25 for a family.
Tickets will also be sold on a garden cart donated by Randy and Patricia Mosher. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. Drawing will take place on Saturday, June 3, at the annual plant sale.
Tickets are also now being sold on 25 pounds of lobster. The price is $2 each or three for $5. Draw will take place on Sunday, July 23.
Movie night at the hall will be Wednesday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m., showing La La Land. Make sure you arrive by 7:15 p.m. to secure a good seat and, of course, order popcorn. On Wednesday, May 31, the show will be Pawn Sacrifice. This was shown before but, due to a technical glitch, it stopped halfway through the movie.
The last open mike will be held on Friday, May 19, at 7 p.m. A summer break will be taken to allow for “Concerts in the Park” to start on Sunday, June 4, at 7 p.m. These concerts are very popular and happen every Sunday night during the summer at the bandstand in Parrsboro. Donations raised go to the musicians’ charity of choice.
