North Kentville man accused of lighting socks ablaze at New Minas RCMP detachment
A North Kentville man charged with two counts of mischief – one involving a pulled fire alarm and one involving lighting his socks on fire – will be back in court in June.
Levi Starr Gertridge, 22, is charged with committing mischief by willfully pulling and breaking the handle of the fire alarm at Westside Charlie’s in New Minas; assaulting a police officer engaged in the execution of his duty, making a false alarm of a fire by outcry at the New Minas RCMP detachment and committing mischief by willfully setting fire to his socks at the New Minas RCMP detachment.
Gertridge was present in Kentville provincial court on May 23. His matters were adjourned to June 6 for plea and to allow time for the accused to seek legal counsel. It’s alleged that Gertridge committed the offences on April 1. The charges have not been proven in court.
