On Saturday, June 10, Duncan and Louise Spicer will be cel­e­brat­ing their 60th wed­ding an­niver­sary from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Ad­vo­cate Fire Hall. Ev­ery­one is wel­come, and best wishes only.

On Saturday, June 10, open mike will be at the log build­ing start­ing at 7 p.m. Do­na­tions will be taken at the door. Can­teen and 50/50 will be avail­able.

On Thurs­day, June 15, it will be Lego Day at the Ad­vo­cate li­brary from 3 to 5 p.m.

On Saturday, June 17, Ethel Slocum will be cel­e­brat­ing her 90th birth­day from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bass River Com­mu­nity Cen­tre in Bass River. Ev­ery­one is wel­come and best wishes only.

It’s that time of year again for the 2017 Sum­mer Read­ing Club Kick-Off Party at the Ad­vo­cate li­brary from 2 to 3 p.m on Thurs­day, June 29. Come and cel­e­brate Canada’s birth­day early with crafts and games, and sign up for sum­mer read­ing club. Call 902392-2214 for more in­for­ma­tion.

The Down­shore Mar­ket is now open on Saturday morn­ings at the log build­ing from 9 a.m. to noon for the sea­son. Come on out for a cof­fee with a friend or meet a new friend and browse the lo­cal ven­dors’ wares.

The Spencer’s Is­land Craft and Farm­ers Mar­ket is now open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday af­ter­noons at the Spencer’s Is­land Com­mu­nity Hall.
