Lions, Mixers earn little league wins to close regular season
Playoffs begin Wednesday with Lions facing Y’s Guys, Mixers playing Cubs
Nate Campbell hit a threerun home run to lift the Lions to a 6-0 win over the Carter’s Cresting Cubs in Amherst Little League Baseball A system action on Monday.
Reece MacDonald and Declan LeBlanc combined on a one-hitter, giving up two walks and striking out nine. Kieran Sears and Phoenix Remington pitched for the Cubs. They gave up 10 hits, walked one and struck out five.
Campbell also singled for the Lions while Nolan McNally and Evan Legere each singled twice, Gregor Millard singled and doubled and Ben MacDonald, Kyler Edwards and Brady Gill each singled.
Phoenix Remington doubled for the only Cubs hit.
Burke Beed and Hayden Crocket each hit a single, double and triple and Kirkland Porter hit two singles and doubled as the Mixers defeated the Y’s Guys 17-3.
Mandel Nickerson tripled and Ethan Sheriff singled for the Mixers.
Brayden Stevens and Ashton Wilcox each singled and doubled for the Y’s Guys while Cody Hill and Jesse Goodwin singled.
Mandel Nickerson and Hayden Crockett pitched for the Mixers, giving up six hits, walking five and striking out nine. Jesse Goodwin, Cody Hill and Mason Sloan pitched for the Y’s Guys. They gave up 11 hits, walked 13 and struck out six.
The A system playoffs begin Wednesday at 6 p.m. with the pennant-winning Lions playing the fourth-place Y’s Guys in a best-of-three semifinal while the second-place Mixers will face the third-place Cubs.
