Lions, Mix­ers earn lit­tle league wins to close reg­u­lar sea­son

Play­offs be­gin Wed­nes­day with Lions fac­ing Y’s Guys, Mix­ers play­ing Cubs

Nate Camp­bell hit a three­run home run to lift the Lions to a 6-0 win over the Carter’s Crest­ing Cubs in Amherst Lit­tle League Base­ball A sys­tem ac­tion on Mon­day.

Reece MacDon­ald and De­clan Le­Blanc com­bined on a one-hit­ter, giv­ing up two walks and strik­ing out nine. Kieran Sears and Phoenix Rem­ing­ton pitched for the Cubs. They gave up 10 hits, walked one and struck out five.

Camp­bell also sin­gled for the Lions while Nolan McNally and Evan Legere each sin­gled twice, Gre­gor Millard sin­gled and dou­bled and Ben MacDon­ald, Kyler Ed­wards and Brady Gill each sin­gled.

Phoenix Rem­ing­ton dou­bled for the only Cubs hit.

Burke Beed and Hay­den Crocket each hit a sin­gle, dou­ble and triple and Kirkland Porter hit two sin­gles and dou­bled as the Mix­ers de­feated the Y’s Guys 17-3.

Man­del Nick­er­son tripled and Ethan Sher­iff sin­gled for the Mix­ers.

Bray­den Stevens and Ashton Wil­cox each sin­gled and dou­bled for the Y’s Guys while Cody Hill and Jesse Good­win sin­gled.

Man­del Nick­er­son and Hay­den Crock­ett pitched for the Mix­ers, giv­ing up six hits, walk­ing five and strik­ing out nine. Jesse Good­win, Cody Hill and Ma­son Sloan pitched for the Y’s Guys. They gave up 11 hits, walked 13 and struck out six.

The A sys­tem play­offs be­gin Wed­nes­day at 6 p.m. with the pen­nant-win­ning Lions play­ing the fourth-place Y’s Guys in a best-of-three semi­fi­nal while the sec­ond-place Mix­ers will face the third-place Cubs.
