No win­ner in fire depart­ment’s 50/50 draw

Sym­pa­thy goes out to wife and all fam­ily mem­bers on the pass­ing of Ron Webb, Lit­tle River, on July 23; the same to all fam­ily mem­bers of Gor­don Stevens, Williamsdale, who passed away on July 27. Think­ing of you all at th­ese sad times.

Mike Purdy and his com­pan­ion, Donna Perkins, who had been vis­it­ing in Sum­mer­side, P.E.I., stopped in, on their way back to Ot­tawa for a sur­prise visit with Bill Atkin­son and Carl Purdy.

Birth­day wishes go out this week to Chase Comeau, Monc­ton; Linda Bick­er­ton, Stan­ley; Rev. Meg­gin King, Dave Far­ley, Beryl Ma­cLean, and Barb Langill, Pug­wash; Bill Toth, Masstown; and Carol Gal­lant, Amherst. Wed­ding an­niver­sary greet­ings go out to Don and Betty Casey, Amherst; Dwayne and Deliah Smith, Rock­ley; and Kevin and Dana Le­Blanc, Hub­bards.

There was no win­ner at the fire­men’s weekly 50/50 draw on Wed­nes­day, nor at the Co-Op’s weekly draw on Sun­day.

Call­ers with Mary Doyle on Fri­day were nieces Lily DeY­oung, Li­nacy, her daugh­ter Beth and lit­tle girl, Lily, Cal­gary; Jean Robert­son, Bar­neys River, and her daugh­ter Emily, Antigo­nish. They en­joyed lunch at Sheryl’s Bak­ery.

Other call­ers this week were Lynn McKel­lar, North Wal­lace, and Peggy Allen, Pug­wash.

Peggy drove Mary for a den­tal ap­point­ment in Pug­wash on Mon­day.

Peggy’s great-grand­daugh­ter, Lil­lix, spent last week at Camp Pag­weak. She had a great time and the big thrill was on Thurs­day night when they all got to spend the night there.

Wish every child could en­joy this ex­pe­ri­ence. Bless the co­or­di­na­tors and coun­sel­lors.

I un­der­stand the yard sale at Wes­ley-St. Matthew’s United Church on July 22 was a huge suc­cess.

Rev. Meg­gin King vis­ited with Shirley White one day this week. Faye Moore, Conns Mills, and Shirley were shop­ping in Amherst re­cently and en­joyed lunch to­gether.

On Satur­day Ron­alda and Barry Smith, along with Shirley trav­elled to Saint John to at­tend Kelsey’s fourth birth­day party. Aidan re­turned back with them for a visit.

Lots of call­ers this week. Terry Smith had lunch with me on Mon­day; Denise Dar­ragh and Bruce Gul­lens had sup­per on Tues­day; and Grant and Janet had lunch with me on Fri­day. Others in­clude Ch­eryl My­ers, Lon­don­derry; Janet Gul­lens, Gulf Shore; Kate Wil­son, Wal­lace; Ron Tren­holm, Rock­ley; Lynn McKel­lar, N. Wal­lace; Lil­lix Pol­ley, Dart­mouth; Roberta Angevine, Peggy Allen, Judy Allen, Carl Purdy, and last but not least, my good friend and neigh­bour, 94-year-old Rol­lie Lock­hart, who walked up on Sun­day evening for a visit.
