Cumberland RCMP investigating Springhill ATV collision
RCMP are investigating a single-vehicle ATV collision that took place just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, on McGee Street in Springhill.
The passenger, a 19-year-old man from Amherst, sustained serious injuries and was transported by EHS to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Springhill, fled the scene but was later apprehended by RCMP. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Initial investigation indicates the ATV was travelling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control on a turn and struck a pole. Charges are pending against the driver under the Off Highway Vehicle Act, Motor Vehicle Act and Criminal Code.
An RCMP Collision Analyst was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
