Bass tournament to remember late friend of the Fundy coastline
We received a little rain this past weekend, which should help to reduce the fire risk and green up the lawns a bit.
On a couple of mornings there was even a hint of fall in the air. My thanks goes out to all of the workers who gave their time to hold the FPW Firemens’ Field day. An incredible amount of work goes into this event each year. Sheila MacLellan won the barbecue, donated by Harrisons’, and Sharon Benjamin won the Co-op gift card.
Next year will be the 50th anniversary of the FPW Fire Dept. The volunteer firemen spend countless hours to take training courses and are on call for the protection of us all. They serve Fox River, Port Greville and Ward’s Brook proudly and do a great job.
The inaugural Walter Lake Memorial Bass Fishing Derby will be held on Sept. 16 at the Fox River beach from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Registration will be at Walter’s cottage. The entry fee will be $10 per person and there will be two categories for cash and trophy prizes: Senior and Junior (under 16). Food and refreshments will be available and bait and tackle will be there for purchase. I will find out from Troy the registration time and post later in my news. This event will be a lasting tribute to Walter, who was a master fisherman and friend to all. All proceeds will be donated to The Age of Sail Museum.
The Foxy Lady is out of news for now.
Have a great week, everyone.
