It all started at the beach, Lawrencetown to be exact. That’s where photographer Tanya Canam found inspiration to bring together a windswept wedding shoot with one purpose—to highlight the hard work of some local folks working in the scene. With Canam’s little direction—“a free flowing, slightly bohemian, seaside vibe which would highlight Nova Scotia’s coastline”—Theresa Capell designed a custom look, highlighted further with flowers, hair and makeup. “Then things changed once I arrived at the location,” says Canam, who last minute moved the shoot to a marshy area across from the beach. “It was absolutely stunning and wild and gorgeous and exactly what I was looking for even though I didn’t know it. It showed off Nova Scotian landscape magnificently and matched perfectly the romantic and wild side of both the dress and the bouquet.”

“The Miss Foxine Collection celebrates the ethereal beauty of vintage romance with an enchanted bohemian spirit,” says Theresa Capell, the designer of the dress. She makes handcut, hand-sewn pieces like this one (the Athenaïs Gown, which was custom made for this shoot) using laces, vintage fabrics, silk flowers, crystals and other intricate details. “I often get my queues from the tapestry of our natural world. When creating this particular design, I pulled inspiration from the stunning lands that surround our ponds, lakes, and shore lines; a story of a delicate flower slowly encroaching deep flirtatious waters.”
