The neigh­bour­hood: Lo­cated just be­hind The Din­gle and Sir San­ford Flem­ing Park, this fam­ily home is only a few min­utes to Mum­ford Road and other ma­jor ar­ter­ies (by bus or car). Close to schools and com­mu­nity re­cre­ation.

The digs: A 64-year-old four-bed­room home at 5429 Duf­fus Street with one full and one half-bath­room, ideal for new and grow­ing fam­i­lies. New win­dows, roof, sid­ing and floor­ing, plus lots of nat­u­ral light make it a win­ner.

The neigh­bour­hood: Lo­cated in Hal­i­fax’s north end, Duf­fus Street has easy ac­cess to both bridges, the Wind­sor ex­change and down­town-bound bus routes. Also close to schools and neigh­bour­hood restos.

The perks: The cozy liv­ing space hits around 1,000 square feet but the gi­gan­tic back­yard (se­ri­ously huge) takes the prop­erty’s foot­print to over 8,000 square feet. Want a bas­ket­ball court out there? No prob­lem.

The digs: A taste of Hal­i­fax’s south end at the top of the Bed­ford Basin, the airy and open 19 Tophill Drive, is a three-bed, two-bath char­ac­ter home has over 1,500 square feet of liv­ing space, hard­wood floors and a work­ing fire­place.

The digs: Sit back and watch the waves in this one-bed, one-bath sixth-floor King’s Wharf condo (607-15 Kings Wharf Place), built in 2013. Lux­u­ries in­clude a gran­ite and stain­less steel kitchen, walk-in closet and big, wide win­dows.

The neigh­bour­hood: Down­town Dart­mouth is quickly be­com­ing one of the coolest ar­eas in town, with a beer bar, restau­rants, gal­leries and bou­tiques all within walk­ing dis­tance to the ferry.

The perks: This stel­lar har­bour- and canal-view condo is 900 square feet, but footage in­creases with the pa­tio, fit­ness cen­tre and in-build­ing cof­fee shop.
