Legion holds annual meeting
Branch 15 Royal Canadian Legion Harbour Grace held their annual meeting March 3 at the clubrooms on Water Street.
During the event Paige Coombs accepted a certificate for her third place finish in the Colour Poster division of the Provincial Remembrance Day art competition. Coombs also won first place at the local (Branch) level.
District Commander Leslie Forward conducted the annual election of officers.
New officers voted into officer were: Lawrence Pike: Sgt-atArms; and Executive Council members: Ken Sheppard, Olive Sheppard, Bill Farrell, Fred Hutchings and Joy Coleman.
Installed to complete their terms of office were: Leonard Bray, past president; Christine Janes president; Bern Pittman, first vice-president; Timmy Pasha, second vice-president; Wallace Pike, treasurer; Marie Dicks, treasurer and Rev. Russell Small.
Branch 15 also commended Bill Tetford for receiving the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation.
The branch will hold its next meeting 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 at the clubrooms.
SUF SCHOLARSHIP — Brianna Viscount, of Halifax,(centre) poses for a photo with her grandparents Maxine and Ernie Lockyer of Dildo after being presented with the SUF Memorial Scholarship by the SUF Lodge No. 84 in Dildo. The $500 scholarship will assist Viscount with her studies at the Marine Institute in St. John’s.
