Le­gion holds an­nual meet­ing

Branch 15 Royal Cana­dian Le­gion Har­bour Grace held their an­nual meet­ing March 3 at the clu­b­rooms on Wa­ter Street.

Dur­ing the event Paige Coombs ac­cepted a cer­tifi­cate for her third place fin­ish in the Colour Poster divi­sion of the Pro­vin­cial Re­mem­brance Day art com­pe­ti­tion. Coombs also won first place at the lo­cal (Branch) level.

District Com­man­der Les­lie For­ward con­ducted the an­nual elec­tion of of­fi­cers.

New of­fi­cers voted into of­fi­cer were: Lawrence Pike: Sgt-atArms; and Ex­ec­u­tive Coun­cil mem­bers: Ken Shep­pard, Olive Shep­pard, Bill Far­rell, Fred Hutch­ings and Joy Cole­man.

In­stalled to com­plete their terms of of­fice were: Leonard Bray, past pres­i­dent; Chris­tine Janes pres­i­dent; Bern Pittman, first vice-pres­i­dent; Timmy Pasha, sec­ond vice-pres­i­dent; Wal­lace Pike, trea­surer; Marie Dicks, trea­surer and Rev. Rus­sell Small.

Branch 15 also com­mended Bill Tetford for re­ceiv­ing the Min­is­ter of Vet­er­ans Af­fairs Com­men­da­tion.

The branch will hold its next meet­ing 7:30 p.m. Tues­day, April 7 at the clu­b­rooms.

SUF SCHOL­AR­SHIP — Bri­anna Vis­count, of Hal­i­fax,(cen­tre) poses for a photo with her grand­par­ents Max­ine and Ernie Lock­yer of Dildo af­ter be­ing pre­sented with the SUF Memo­rial Schol­ar­ship by the SUF Lodge No. 84 in Dildo. The $500 schol­ar­ship will as­sist Vis­count with her stud­ies at the Marine In­sti­tute in St. John’s.
