Theft, im­paired, drug abuse pre­sen­ta­tions

March 24: Trin­ity Con­cep­tion District RCMP re­ceived a re­port of an Xbox 360 and a Rock Band Game sys­tem, stolen from a res­i­dence in Carbonear.

March 26: Some­one broke into a res­i­dence in Co­ley’s Point.

March 27: RCMP were on pa­trol in the district when an of­fi­cer ob­served a ve­hi­cle cross over the cen­tre line sev­eral times. The ve­hi­cle was pulled over and the driver, a 37-year-old Con­cep­tion Bay South man, was in­ves­ti­gated for im­paired driv­ing. He was charged with re­fusal to sub­mit to so­bri­ety test­ing. He is ex­pected to ap­pear in court June 15.

Po­lice were ad­vised a ve­hi­cle had gone off the road near the de­tach­ment in Har­bour Grace. The driver, a 40-year-old Har­bour Grace man, was ar­rested for im­paired driv­ing. Court is set for June 1.

March 28: Two propane tanks were re­ported stolen from a trailer in Bri­gus. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion is asked to con­tact the RCMP, Crime Stop­per or rock­tips.


Cst. Chalker gave five pre­sen­ta­tions March 31 and April 2 on pre­scrip­tions drug (Rx) and over the counter (OTC) drug abuse to Level 1-3 stu­dents in the Healthy Liv­ing pro­gram at As­cen­sion Col­le­giate, Bay Roberts.

The pre­sen­ta­tion dis­cussed the myths re­lated to recre­ational use of pre­scrip­tion drugs and the dan­gers and facts.

Stu­dents watched a video and lis­tened to Cst. Chalker talk about how youth deal with peer pres­sure and cu­rios­ity re­lated to drug use.

There will be more pre­sen­ta­tions at Carbonear Col­le­giate and Amal­ga­mated Academy in the near fu­ture.
