Recreation partners meet in Bay Roberts
About 20 people involved in recreation groups from Conception Bay North turned out at a seminar held March 19 at the Klondyke Hotel in Bay Roberts.
Hosted by Ian Flynn of the Bay Roberts Recreation Commission, the seminar was organized by Recreation Newfoundland Labrador (RNL), in partnership with the Recreation and Sport Division, Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation.
RNL Avalon Regional Director Tina Auchinleck-Ryan of Torbay helped organize the event.
“The seminar provided recre- ation departments, associations and practitioners with the opportunity to meet with other recreation partners from communities around the Avalon Peninsula and to learn about recreation opportunities that are available,” she explained.”
Some of the programs and initiatives discussed included RNL’s Physical Activity Campaign - Small Steps... Big Results, 2009 AGM and Conference, Professional Development Training Bursary, Sogo Active, HIGH FIVE( r) and Canadian Tire JumpStart.
“It was very informative and overflowing with good questions and equally good answers,” said Auchinleck-Ryan. “It was the start of a RNL seminar tour around the province and was a great start. The host group did an excellent job in preparing for the seminar,” she said.
