RCMP charge a number of drivers for impaired
April4: While on patrol in Carbonear, Trinity Conception District RCMP noticed an erratic driver. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver was investigated for impaired driving. A 45-yearold Carbonear man was charged for failing to provide a breath sample. Court is set for May 4.
A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in Carbonear.

There was no one inside a vehicle that was on fire, and nearly went through a guardrail in Port de Grave April 4.
Police investigated the matter. A 36-year-old Colliers man was charged for driving while disqualified. He is scheduled t o appear in court June 1.
Trinity Conception District RCMP received a report of a male operating an all terrain vehicle at excessive speeds back and forth the highway from Lower Island Cove to Western Bay. April 5: A Silverado pickup struck a fence at a residence in Bay de Verde. Two unknown males exited the vehicle with what appeared to be open beer and then left the scene. The truck received damage to the back lower fender and bumper on passenger side. Anyone with any information is asked to contact your local RCMP detachment, Crime Stoppers or www.rocktips.ca.
While on patrol on another complaint, Trinity Conception District RCMP noted a lone occupant in the driver’s seat of a vehicle and approached to ask for directions. The 49-year-old Bay de Verde man was arrested for impaired care and control. Court is set for May 5.
Police received a report of a break and enter into a vehicle in Harbour Grace. A patrol was made and the suspect was located. An 18-year-old male from Harbour Grace was arrested and charged. Bail hearing was set on April 6 and the individual was sentenced to 60 days in jail April 7.

A 33-year-old Victoria woman was arrested after RCMP received a report of theft from Wal-Mart in Carbonear. Court is set for May 4.
April8: While on patrol in Bay Roberts, RCMP spotted a vehicle driving all over the road. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver was investigated for impaired driving. A 19-year-old North River man was arrested and will appear in court July 6.
Meanwhile, after receiving a complaint of erratic driving in Carbonear, police located the vehicle and arrested a 28 year old man from that town for impaired driving. He will appear in court May 19.
Trinity Conception District RCMP remind the public that under the All Terrain Motor Vehicle and Snow Mobile Act, ATVs and snowmobiles are not permitted to be operated on the roadways.
Please do not abuse these regulations, as they are there to keep the machine operators and public safe.
We can also see from this week’s report, impaired drivers continue to be apprehended by police.
If you consume alcohol and make the poor decision to drive a vehicle, not only are you committing a criminal offence, you are risking your life and the life of others.
