Ad­vance Auto de­liv­ers fast, re­li­able ve­hi­cle care, right on time

IPARTS Ad­vance Auto Care Lim­ited has had steady growth right from the start. They take great pride in pro­vid­ing a fully stocked parts depart­ment and are de­ter­mined to make sure parts for your do­mes­tic or im­port ve­hi­cle are on hand.

“Most of the time when we ser­vice a ve­hi­cle we have the parts right here,” Green says. “ That’s the dif­fer­ence from our ser­vice and that of the smaller garage.”

Rather than hav­ing their cus­tomers wait­ing for parts on or­der, Ad­vance Auto’s fully stocked parts depart­ment en­sures ap­point­ments are on time.

“If we have to wait a half hour for a de­liv­ery – that hour job be­comes a hour and a half job,” the owner ac­knowl­edges. “The key is hav­ing on hand what we need for the job.”

Ad­vance Auto Care Lim­ited stocks a large in­ven­tory of auto sup­plies for both the re­tail and com­mer­cial cus­tomer. They also of­fer de­liv­ery to com­mer­cial ac­counts.

“That’s what makes our garage very com­pet­i­tive and our parts counter t’s been 20 years since Ad­vance Auto Care Ltd. wel­comed its first cus­tomer. Since 1989 the auto care cen­tre has kept in tune with the best in car care, main­tain­ing a fully stocked parts store and a five bay ser­vice cen­tre.

But their phi­los­o­phy is still the same: great ser­vice makes great busi­ness.

And that’s how Dan Green, Ad­vance Auto Care Lim­ited pres­i­dent and owner mod­estly ac­counts for his busi­ness’s growth over the past two decades.

“I’m a firm be­liever that if you have an ap­point­ment for 10 o’clock, peo­ple like to get in at 10 o’clock – not 10:30,” he says.

The com­pany’s pres­i­dent says he would never let any­one go home com­plain­ing “they were at the garage for two hours just to get a set of tires in­stalled.”

Many times it’s the lit­tle things that make the big dif­fer­ence, and that’s what counts for Ad­vance Auto’s cus­tomers.

“It’s good to know when your car is in for a re­pair and a tech­ni­cian de­tects an­other po­ten­tial prob­lem, the cus­tomer is no­ti­fied and ad­vised of the mat­ter,” Green says.

With that kind of trust­wor­thy ser­vice, cus­tomers can re­lax and feel con­fi­dent know­ing their ve­hi­cle is safe and well main­tained. CEL­E­BRAT­ING 20 – Ad­vance Auto Care, Pow­ell Drive, Carbonear is cel­e­brat­ing its 20th an­niver­sary. The five-bay ser­vice cen­tre also has a fully stocked parts depart­ment in­clud­ing parts for for­eign ve­hi­cles. ma­jor sup­plier at the same rate as any na­tional com­peti­tor across Canada.

“ This works both ways,” ex­plains Green, “ buy­ing di­rect keeps the cost down for the cus­tomer. The other ad­van­tage is avail­abil­ity.

“If a car owner is tak­ing a day off work, they don’t want to be at the garage for the whole day for car re­pairs. There are other things they want to do.”

IM­PORTS AND DO­MES­TIC Im­ported ve­hi­cles are as com­mon on our high­ways as do­mes­tic cars and trucks.

And Green says, “the most re­placed parts such as shocks, brakes and front-end com­po­nents are just as avail­able for for­eign cars at Ad­vance Auto as they are for Ford, Chev or Dodge.

“A lot of peo­ple are un­der the mis­con­cep­tion that you have to drive to St. John’s to a dealer to get a part for an im­port. But that’s not the case any­more. Our goal is to have that part for your ve­hi­cle to­day.”

OTHER SER­VICES Avail­abil­ity of parts is im­por­tant – but so are other ar­eas of the busi­ness.

Ad­vance Auto Care Lim­ited is a cer­ti­fied dealer for Her­cules tires. As many as 750 tires are in stock at peak pe­ri­ods.

“If we don’t have the tire you need, we have ac­cess to it overnight,” says Green.

When you get those new tires in­stalled it’s al­ways smart to have the four wheels aligned to pre­vent un­nec­es­sary wear. And Green says the com­put­er­ized wheel align­ment ma­chine is one of the best things he’s done to im­prove ser­vice to cus­tomers.

Ad­vance Auto Care Lim­ited has also grown to in­clude ra­di­a­tor re­pair and ex­haust and muf­fler re­place­ment.

“We can sup­ply new ra­di­a­tors, heater cores and gas tanks, as well as most ex­haust needs,” the owner says.

Along with the hard­ware, Ad­vance Auto Care has the soft­ware as well. With the scan tool, tech­ni­cians find elec­tronic and elec­tri­cal trou­ble quickly.

A ve­hi­cle with its en­gine and ABS light on in the dash is wor­ri­some for the owner and can be time con­sum­ing or vir­tu­ally im­pos­si­ble to fix without the right di­ag­nos­tic tools. At Ad­vance they have the right tools for the job, without hav­ing to wait.
