The CBN Lightning Sports Club is preparing to launch its second spring and summer soccer season.

Early registration for young athletes ages 3 to 14 took place at All Hallows Elementary in North River Monday, April 27. Children throughout the region turned out in huge numbers to become part of this FUN program.

A final registration will take place in mid May prior to the start of the spring session.

Club president Bob Tarrant said,“the club is coming off a successful indoor program, and is hoping to build on the more than 250 players who registered in 2008, the first full year for the soccer program.”

The club is looking for volunteers to help with everything from coaching and fund-raising to registration and field maintenance.

“It’s shaping up to be another banner year, with plans to upgrade and expand our sports field adjacent to All Hallows,” Tarrant said. “The club is seeking partnerships with area towns to have this facility designated a regional soccer facility.”

The club is also seeking proposals from companies or individuals interested in entering into a field maintenance agreement for this season. Those interested can contact field manager Morris Edmunds at 528-1475 or 683-6711.
