Those nasty political attack ads

The Compass - - FRONT PAGE -

I often wondered how the general population feels about the recent attack ads the Conservative Party of Canada has been running over the past month?

Why are they attacking the Liberal Opposition Party leader?

Michael Ignatieff has just as much right as any politician to become our prime minister some day like any other politician who follows and respects the governing procedures and rules of Parliament, the Canadian Constitution and the Canadian Elections Act. He is a Canadian who studied and worked in the USA like other Rhodes Scholars and well educated Canadians who wanted to get ahead in life.

We all know Canadians have done well in the USA and elsewhere, and have come back home to share their experiences with their homeland people. If a Canadian actor or musician decided to run for politics here in Canada their name would become mud in no time because they are too Americanized.

We have immigrants to Canada who have become politicians, so what makes Michael Ignatieff any different?

He is a true Canadian and this should be respected and appre- ciated by Canadians.

We are experiencing one of the greatest economic downturns in Canadian history, and throughout the world. There are thousands losing their jobs because many jobs are leaving the country. We have been importing too much and not exporting our manufactured goods. There are countries selling to us and not buying our products; it is as simple as that. It is as if we have been blindfolded and lied to about the growth of our economy by the current administration. Suddenly, we are faced with millions of dollars in advertising of attacks ads over the media making a well-respected Canadian look like a real fool, which is very insulting to our intelligence and our Canadian pride.
