Shearstown mas­ter earns 7th de­gree

Mas­ter Wes­ley Earle, ju­nior, of Shearstown, was pre­sented with his 7th De­gree Black Belt in tae kwon do, at As­cen­sion Col­le­giate in Bay Roberts May 22.

Earle be­gan his ca­reer in tae kwon do many years ago and has ex­celled in each and ev­ery as­pect of the sport.

The pro­mo­tion exam tested his phys­i­cal skills of spar­ring, board break­ing, forms, and self de­fence be­fore an au­di­ence of al­most 200 peo­ple.

In at­ten­dance for the event were em­cee Mas­ter Tony Nip­pard from the NL TKD Academy; the pres­i­dent of Tae Kwon Do Canada, Sean Fitzger­ald, and Grand Mas­ter Woo Yong Jung, 8th De­gree Black Belt, who is orig­i­nally from Korea.

Grand­mas­ter Jung is ded­i­cated to the sport of tae kwon do, which is ev­i­dent from his list of ac­com­plish­ments that in­cludes be­ing an Olympic Medal­list. Grand­mas­ter Jung was the test­ing body for the event.
