Cupids volunteer firefighters hold final firemen’s ball
The 38th annual Firemen’s Ball for the Cupids Volunteer Fire Brigade could very likely be the last for the brigade.
The May 9th event, held at the Cupids Community Centre, was catered by the newly organized Ladies’ Auxiliary, which now boasts 11 members.
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of some 60 certificates for training to the various firefighters.
Cupids Volunteer Fire Brigade members are among the most highly trained in volunteer departments in the province. More than half the members are under 30 years of age.
Over the years, members have attended numerous training courses offered through the Fire Commissioner’s office. Various members attended the Fire Training School in Grand Falls-Windsor in the spring of 2008 as well as in Marystown in the fall of 2008 and completed the following courses:
• Certified refresher for Level I and II Firefighters • CPR HCP Level and AED • Emergency Medical Responder Level II • Incident Command 100 • Pump Operations NFPA 1002 • Driver Module NFPA 1002 • Hydraulics Module NFPA 1002
• Fire Prevention and Inspection
