Old Mill wins five-pin cham­pi­onship

The host Old Mill Lanes team from Bay Roberts earned the 2009 Mol­son Coors Light East­ern five-pin bowl­ing ex­ec­u­tive cham­pi­onship over four other en­tries dur­ing the June 5-7 week­end.

In a pins-over-av­er­age com­pe­ti­tion, the team fin­ished at plus 285. Wanda Daw­son was plus 133 with Kim French at plus 92 and Ma­bel Trow­bridge was plus 60.

Sec­ond place went to Riverdale Lanes of Kel­li­grews at plus 178 from Jane Evans at plus 132, Mary Porter at plus 116 and Bob Courage at mi­nus 69.

Rowena Sin­clair’s plus 217 car­ried Riverdale to third po­si­tion as Sharon Ma­her was mi­nus 13 and Mick Flynn was mi­nus 46 for a team plus of 156.

Bob Con­way at plus 48, Dave Ed­wards at plus 18 and Fred Walsh at mi­nus 19 had St. Pat’s Lanes fourth with plus 48.

Old Mill was fifth with plus 36 from Verna Bow­er­ing on plus 77, Mary Tucker on mi­nus 12 and Kay Fol­lett on a mi­nus 29.

Wanda Daw­son’s 309 was the high fe­male sin­gle and Bob Con­way paced the men with 274.
