Legion plans July 1 service, congratulates cadet
The July 1 Memorial Service and Parade was foremost on the agenda at the regular monthly meeting of Branch 15, Royal Canadian Legion, held at the Harbour Grace clubrooms June 2.
Branch 15 also extended congratulations to Samantha Crocker, who was awarded the Legion’s Cadet Medal of Excellence.
The award recognizes an individual’s endeavours in citizenship that meet or enhance the aims and objectives of the Cadet movement. It is presented to the cadet who has met all requirements of the unit’s annual mandatory and optional training programs. The recipient must have participated in a minimum of three communi- ty service events and enhanced the cadet unit through cooperation with peers and subordinates by promoting goodwill and morale within the unit. The chosen recipient is a cadet who supports and assists fellow cadets and is involved in the local community.
The award is based upon a recognized national standard in order to maintain the prestige and value of the award throughout Canada.
Branch 15 will meet again at 7:30 p.m. June 23 to finalize plans for summer events.
