Clarke’s Beach Moore withstands challenge
Mayor Betty Moore had no trouble holding onto her chain of office in Clarke’s Beach.
More defeated her rival candidate, councillor Frank Evely by 142 votes. The incumbent mayor received the support of 402 Clarke’s Beach voters, while Evely attracted 260.
Incumbent deputy mayor Kevin Hussey topped the pole with 426 votes followed by Winston Vokey, 400; Roland Andrews, 373; Gary Bendell, 364; Eldon Snow, 360 and David Moore, 308. Edward Delaney and Paul Perham with 267 votes each were both unsuccessful in their bids for council seats.
Some 667 of the town’s 1,157 eligible voters (58 per cent) cast ballots on polling day.
