Clarke’s Beach Moore with­stands chal­lenge

Mayor Betty Moore had no trou­ble hold­ing onto her chain of of­fice in Clarke’s Beach.

More de­feated her ri­val can­di­date, coun­cil­lor Frank Evely by 142 votes. The in­cum­bent mayor re­ceived the sup­port of 402 Clarke’s Beach vot­ers, while Evely at­tracted 260.

In­cum­bent deputy mayor Kevin Hussey topped the pole with 426 votes fol­lowed by Win­ston Vokey, 400; Roland An­drews, 373; Gary Ben­dell, 364; El­don Snow, 360 and David Moore, 308. Ed­ward De­laney and Paul Per­ham with 267 votes each were both un­suc­cess­ful in their bids for coun­cil seats.

Some 667 of the town’s 1,157 el­i­gi­ble vot­ers (58 per cent) cast bal­lots on polling day.
