The Compass - - NEWS -

The Brigus Town Council will have five new faces in their council chambers for the next four years.

Only two members of the former council, incumbent mayor Byron Rodway, who was elected by acclamation, and Ralph Trickett are back on council. Trickett, the only incumbent councillor who sought re-election, topped the poll with 263 votes.

The newcomers are: Pauline Mercer, 259; Faith C. Pike-Roberts, 207; Michael Fowler, 194; Lorne J. Youden, 171 and Greg Hiscock, 146. Two other newcomers, Roy Clarke and Shears Mercer Jr., 131, were unsuccessful in their bids for council seats.

Some 356 (56 per cent) of the town’s 626 eligible voters cast ballots in the election.
