David and Melody Engram wanted to purchase three plots together at the town's Interfaith Cemetery, but were flatly refused. The cemetery sold only single and double plots, and it refused to accommodate the couple's wish to be buried alongside their terminally ill daughter, Amelia.

After a week of controversy, the three churches, which operate the Interfaith Cemetery, agreed to change the rules, allowing the grieving family to purchase three adjacent burial plots.
