A week be­fore Christ­mas in Con­cep­tion Bay

Peace on earth good will to men rang out all over Con­cep­tion Bay North last week as res­i­dents pre­pared for the Christ­mas sea­son. The Com­pass man­aged to cap­ture a few of their yule­tide prepa­ra­tions and fes­tive ac­tiv­i­ties on cam­era.

New­found­land mu­si­cian Kelly Rus­sell reads a Christ­mas story from the tales of Pi­geon In­let to a group of stu­dents at Co­ley’s Point Pri­mary dur­ing a mati­nee con­cert at the school. Rus­sell has been at the school for the past few weeks as part of an Arts Smarts pro­gram.

Co­ley’s Point Kinder­garten stu­dent Rachel Mor­gan hugs her teacher Kim But­ler as But­ler reaches for the mi­cro­phone to lead the au­di­ence in a carol sing last Wed­nes­day Dec. 16.

Guid­ance Coun­cil­lor Mike O’Driscoll dec­o­rates his of­fice at Amal­ga­mated Academy in Bay Roberts. Many ac­tiv­i­ties and events have been held at the school over the past few weeks.

Co­ley’s Point Prin­ci­pal Joy Brown plays the pi­ano and tries to help Kinder­garten teacher Kim But­ler re­mem­ber the lyrics to the song The Twelve Days of Christ­mas dur­ing a mati­nee at the school.

Ruth and Lloyd Gosse dec­o­rate the out­side of their home in Bay Roberts with Christ­mas lights while their dog Bruno watches ex­cit­edly from the liv­ing room win­dow.

Grade 1 stu­dents along with their teach­ers Stephanie Lawlor and Janelle Dakins pose for a group photo af­ter they put the fin­ish­ing touches on a Christ­mas tree in the school’s lobby.

Bon­nie Par­sons, stu­dent as­sis­tant and Ker­ilynn Smith, Chal­leng­ing Needs teacher at As­cen­sion Col­le­giate in Bay Roberts, serves up yummy pieces of Christ­mas cake to stu­dents in their class.
