Did you know? Did you know that many youth see pills as safe drugs because if its in pill form it must be safe?

Did you know that our drug section has seized pills being sold as Ecstasy that were 100 per cent methamphetamine?

Did you know that Ecstasy is a highly addictive drug? Ecstasy is: * Street drug only made in illegal labs.

* Tablets may not even contain ecstasy - could be filled with cornstarch, soaps, detergents or other drugs. (such as: caffeine, ephedrine, methamphetamine, LSD, PCP, or ketamine)

* Also known as E, XTC, Love Drug, Euphoria, Party Pill, Hug Drug.

* Adam, M, M & M, MDM, rave, beans, and many more depending on the local groups.

Short-term use of Ecstasy can produce many other effects including: decreased appetite; increased blood pressure and heart rate; increase in body temperature; teeth grinding and jaw pain; nausea and vomiting.

In addition, a person could potentially experience: distortion of perception; paranoia; hallucinations. MDMA causes an increase in body temperature ( hyperthermia). When you combine the increase in body temperature with physical activity such as dancing and a warm environment, the situation can become worse. This increase in body temperature as well as the increase in blood pressure and heart rate can lead to kidney or heart failure, strokes and seizures. Some people drink too much water to avoid dehydration. This can result in dangerously low salt levels in the blood, which can lead to confusion, convulsions and delirium and can progress quickly to coma and death from the swelling of the brain.

The best combat to drug use, is being informed and aware. * Watch for signs of drug use. * Do not get into a vehicle if someone is impaired by drugs or alcohol.

* Do not assume you know someone won’t hurt you or do something unpredictable. Drugs change people! Be careful, and be informed.
