Shoplifter has taste for cham­pagne

Trin­ity Con­cep­tion District RCMP re­sponded to 126 com­plaints and calls for ser­vice be­tween June 23 and 29. Rou­tine traf­fic en­force­ment du­ties are not in­cluded in that to­tal. The fol­low­ing is a snap­shot of in­ves­ti­ga­tions, which high­light the na­ture of some calls and iden­tify in­ci­dents the pub­lic can pos­si­bly help with by pro­vid­ing in­for­ma­tion.

June 24 - A shoplifter at the New­found­land and Labrador Liquor Cor­po­ra­tion store in Car­bon­ear was re­ported to the RCMP. A woman was seen on video sur­veil­lance plac­ing a bot­tle of cham­pagne in her purse. The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing.

June 25 - A ve­hi­cle with­out in­surance or reg­is­tra­tion was re­ported to the RCMP who lo­cated it in Car­bon­ear. A 39-year-old Car­bon­ear woman was is­sued two tick­ets un­der the High­way Traf­fic Act, for driv­ing with­out a valid in­surance pol­icy and op­er­at­ing an un­reg­is­tered ve­hi­cle.

June 26 - Prop­erty dam­age to vinyl sid­ing on a res­i­dence in Har­bour Grace was re­ported to the RCMP.

RCMP were on pa­trol in North River when they ob­served a ve­hi­cle that ap­peared to have a large num­ber of peo­ple in­side. Fol­low­ing an in­quiry on the ve­hi­cle plate, the vehi- cle was pulled over. A 22-year-old Har­bour Grace woman was ar­rested for an out­stand­ing war­rant from St. John’s and for driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied. RNC es­corted the woman to St. John’s to at­tend court on the out­stand­ing war­rant.

June 27 - Three per­sons were ar­rested in con­nec­tion with a break and en­ter on the Gut Bridge con­struc­tion site on The Beach in Car­bon­ear. A 16-year-old Broad Cove male; an 18 year old and a 16 year old both from Car­bon­ear are sched­uled to ap­pear in court Sept. 29.

Prop­erty dam­age in and around the Paddy’s Gar­den area of Car­bon­ear, where a party was held the night be­fore was re­ported to the RCMP. There were re­ports of dam­age to ve­hi­cles, and res­i­den­tial prop­erty van­dal­ism. A Val­ley Road res­i­dent had gar­den lights pulled out of the ground along a drive­way. An in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing.

June 28 - Dam­age to a shed on the govern­ment wharf in Old Per­li­can was re­ported to the RCMP.

Bat­tle of the Brains

The Bat­tle of the Brains was held on June 26th. This event was or­ga­nized by the Bay Roberts Crime Pre­ven­tion Com­mit­tee and your District Com­mu­nity Polic­ing Of­fi­cer. Pro­ceeds were in aide of the drug aware­ness pro­grams, Se­niors Aware­ness and Women‘s Anti vi­o­lence ini­tia­tives. The event raised over $3,200. Dr. Ja­son Noel’s team that took first place.
