CANADA DAY WITH A BANG: Hundreds gathered in Cupids on July 1 to celebrate Canada’s 143rd birthday, and it all culminated with a massive fireworks display late in the day that lit up the small boat basin and surrounding landscape. It was a fitting place to hold such a celebration, since Cupids is considered the birthplace of English Canada and is staging celebrations this year marking the 400th anniversary of the arrival of John Guy in 1610.
