Entry deadline extended for pageant
The application deadline for entries into this year’s Miss Teen Trinity-Conception pageant has been extended until Aug. 15.
The original deadline was July 31.
Organizers are calling on young women from the region between the ages of 13 and 18 to consider the event, which takes place Sept. 17 at the S. W. Moores Memorial Stadium in Harbour Grace. The event coincides with the Trinity-Conception Fall Fair.
The pageant was started in 2005, and focuses on intelligence, academics, leadership, volunteer work and community involvement, said pageant coordinator Sabrina
“ We do not consider ourselves a beauty pageant,” said Jenkins.
“ We provide young women in the area with a positive enriching experience. It is our goal to build self-confidence and reward these young women for their achievements, goals and accomplishments.”
The winner will travel all over Trinity-Conception, attending functions, events and festivals.
The winner is given the option of representing TrinityConception at a provincial or national competition. The winner receives $ 400 in cash, a plaque, photo shoot and more.
There’s also a first and second runner-up, Miss Teen Friendship and Miss Teen Photogenic.
There’s also a People’s Choice Award, which is decided upon by the audience during the night of the event.
Entry is open to contestants from all over the Trinity-Conception region.
Contestants will compete and be judged on the following categories: personal introduction, interview, evening gown, speech, casual wear and impromptu questions.
The reigning Miss Teen Trinity-Conception, Latoya Boland of Brigus, will be on hand to pass the crown and sash over to her successor.
