Police lay impaired driving charges
Members of the Trinity Conception District RCMP laid charges of impaired driving in two separate incidents earlier this month.
The first incident occurred July 17 during a patrol in the Town of Bay Roberts when officers observed a vehicle driving erratically.
The vehicle was stopped, and both the driver, a 33-year-old male from St. John’s, and a 33-year-old male passenger, were arrested.
Witnesses had reported that both men had taken turns operating the vehicle.
The St. John’s man was issued a 24hour suspension of driving privileges, while the Paradise man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in court on Sept. 7.
In another incident on July 18, police observed an off-road bike driving at high speed in Carbonear. The operator, a 27-year-old male from the town, was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in court on Sept. 20.
He was also issued tickets under the All-Terrain and Snowmobile Act for operating an ATV on a roadway without a valid driver’s licence. A 22-year-old man from Bay Roberts was charged with assault for an alleged incident involving a 24-yearold woman from the town. A court date was set for Sept. 20.@$:July 14

A 42-year-old woman from Carbonear was arrested for assault with a weapon, uttering threats and being unlawfully in a dwelling house after a 20-year-old male from the town Carbonear reported being struck with a metal pipe. The woman will appear in court on Sept. 20.A 57-year-old man from Butlerville will appear in court on Sept. 7 on a charge of assault. He was arrested after a 30-year-old woman from Butlerville reported being punched in the face.@$:
