Dildo B&B releases recipe book

The Compass - - OBITUARIES -

This year marks the quasquicentennial of the Lloyd George House, a historic landmark in Dildo.

The George family, who arrived in the Dildo area from Wales in the early 1800s, left their mark as traders, police constables and merchants.

The house, which was erected in 1885, is now one of the best-known landmarks in the area. Built in the Second Empire style, the two-storied wooden structure has changed little through the years.

Entrepreneurs Todd Warren and Dale Cameron have succeeded in turning the building into the awardwinning, five-star George House Heritage Bed and Breakfast.

To mark the 125-year birthday of the house, the proprietors of the bed and breakfast have compiled a book of more than 300 recipes. All are in response to the many guests who have asked, “ Why don’t you make a cookbook, as I’m sure we’re not the first guests to ask for this recipe?”

For the sake of convenience, the book is divided into more than 20 sections. Each one highlights a specific food type, from breakfasts (Scrambled Eggs 365) to beef ( New Brunswick Boiled Dinner), from salads (Grow Dat Broccoli Salad) to stews (Gros Morne Beef Stew), and from pastas ( Mrs. George’s Mac and Cheese) to pies ( Wake Of The Week Pie). The reader is guaranteed for gastronomic delight by the wide variety of recipes included.
