‘ Why don’t you make a cookbook?’

Dildo B&B celebrates 125 years with traditional recipes, cooking tips and local trivia

The Compass - - OBITUARIES -

The usefulness of the 250-page book is increased by the inclusion of scores of cooking tips and suggestions, facts and trivia and accounts from guests of George House. As a taste of what’s on tap for your reading pleasure, here’s a cooking tip: Did you know that bacon won’t curl if you dip it into cold water before frying? Here’s a piece of trivia: Did you know that the codfish hatchery on Dildo Island was once the largest in the world? And, here’s a comment from a guest: “ Would move in for good if the winters weren’t so cold!”

The book, which is published by Flanker Books of St. John’s, was released on July 18 and is available for purchase at your local bookstore and other retail outlets.
