Three teams are com­pet­ing in the Car­bon­ear Molson slo-pitch softball league this sea­son.

The league opened its 33rd sea­son July 8. Here are some of the re­sults:

Game 1 - Butt’s Esso 20, Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 18

Jeff Par­sons belted two home runs, two of his five hits on the night, and Chad Par­sons also had one as Butt’s got past Rock Hard. Chad Par­sons and Ryan Par­sons had four hits each, while Ger­ard Grif­fin reached base three times. Ce­cil Tay­lor had four hits in a los­ing cause.

Game 2 - West Side Char­lies 26, Butt’s Esso 5

Scott Cleary had four hits, in­clud­ing two homers, to pace the win­ners. Paul McCarthy and Cory Ma­haney also had four hits, Sam White had three hits and Eric Pen­ney slammed a home run. Stephen Peach had three hits for Butt’s.

Game 1 - Butt’s Esso 17, West Side Char­lies 15

Three hits each came off the bats of Stephen Peach, Chad Par­son and Trevor Bald­win as Butt’s out­lasted West Side. One of Peach’s hits was a round-trip­per, and Jeff Par­sons also home­red. For the losers, Paul O Leary had three hits, Jamie Clarke belted two home runs, and Mike White­way had two hits, in­clud­ing a home run.

Game 2 - West Side Char­lies 24, Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 18

Mike White­way had two home runs and John This­tle also cleared the out­field fence for West Side. White­way fin­ished the night with four hits, while Paul R. O’Leary had three hits. Den­nis King had four hits, in­clud­ing two home runs, in a los­ing cause.

Game 1 - West Side Char­lies 20, Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 16

John Jac­ques, Cory Ma­haney and Paul O Leary had four hits each for West Side, while Cur­tis Squires had three hits. Mike Squires belted a home run.

Brad Baker, Brian Fitzger­ald, Bradley Har­ris, Randy Moores and Keith Ped­dle had two hits each for Rock Hard.

Game 2 - Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 13, Butt’s Esso 8

Ryan Dean and Bradley Har­ris home­red for Rock Hard in their first win of the young sea­son, while Trevor Gear, Stephen King, Brad Baker and Keith Ped­dle had two hits each. Jeff Par­sons and Brad Mooney had two hits each for the los­ing side.

July 8

Game 1 - Butt’s Esso 12, Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 8

Jeff Par­sons and Dan Keats home­red for the win­ners, while Brian Fitzger­ald and Den­nis King both cleared the fence in a los­ing cause.

Game 2 - Butt’s Esso 15, West Side Char­lies 5

Jeff Par­sons and Grant Tobin clocked home runs, while T.J. Bad­cock , Stephen Peach, Karl Oates, and Mike Rowe had two hits each. Top bat­ters for the losers were Paul O Leary and Jamie Bursey, with two hits each.
