MERCER, James W.: Passed peace­fully away at the Car­bon­ear Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal in Car­bon­ear on Fri­day, July 30, 2010. Mr. James W. Mercer of Up­per Is­land Cove in his 83 year. He is pre-de­ceased by his par­ents Arch and Edna, sis­ters Mary, Doris, An­nie and bother Nathaniel, par­ents-in-law Herb and May Pynn. Left with fond and lov­ing mem­o­ries are his wife Rose of 49 years, Daugh­ters: Diane ( Jack Cleary) River Head, Har­bour Grace, Brenda (Danny Crane) River Head, Har­bour Grace., Son Barry of Up­per Is­land Cove. Six grand­chil­dren, Barry, Brent, Steven, Adam, Va­niessa and Cait­lyn. One great­grand­daugh­ter Brooke and a large cir­cle of friends and relatives. The fu­neral ser­vice took place on Tues­day Au­gust 3, 2010 at St. Peters Angli­can Church in Up­per Is­land Cove, in­ter­ment fol­lowed at the Angli­can Ceme­tery Up­per Is­land Cove.

CLARKE, Vi­o­let - Passed peace­fully away at the Car­bon­ear Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal on Sun­day, Au­gust 1, 2010, Vi­o­let Clarke of Vic­to­ria, age 83 years. Pre­de­ceased by son: Bri­dle; daugh­ters: Gla­dys and Ella; in­fant daugh­ter; par­ents: Ben­jamin and Lucy Baker; broth­ers: Ben­jamin and Fred; sis­ters: Eve­lyn, Jessie, El­iz­a­beth and Eva; step-broth­ers: Jack and Bill; step­sis­ter: Ju­lia. Left to mourn, hus­band: Ple­man; seven daugh­ters: Joyce (El­lis) An­tle and Mar­garet (Fred) Martin, both of Vic­to­ria, Louella (Don) Barker, Ed­mon­ton, AB, Ros­alind Reese, On­tario, Peggy (Roger Ben­nett), Ed­mon­ton, AB, Judy (Tony) Clarke, Vic­to­ria and Pamela (Roger) Durn­ford, Grande Prairie, AB; two sons: Ran­dell (Mar­i­lyn) and Ben­jamin (Kathy), both of Vic­to­ria; twenty-four grand­chil­dren; a num­ber of great-grand­chil­dren and great-great-grand­chil­dren; one brother: Al­bert Baker, Van­cou­ver, BC; also a large num­ber of other relatives and friends. Rev. Jesse Bown con­ducted the fu­neral ser­vice on Wed­nes­day, Au­gust 4 at the United Church, Vic­to­ria. In­ter­ment took place in the United Ceme­tery, Vic­to­ria.
