MERCER, James W.: Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital in Carbonear on Friday, July 30, 2010. Mr. James W. Mercer of Upper Island Cove in his 83 year. He is pre-deceased by his parents Arch and Edna, sisters Mary, Doris, Annie and bother Nathaniel, parents-in-law Herb and May Pynn. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Rose of 49 years, Daughters: Diane ( Jack Cleary) River Head, Harbour Grace, Brenda (Danny Crane) River Head, Harbour Grace., Son Barry of Upper Island Cove. Six grandchildren, Barry, Brent, Steven, Adam, Vaniessa and Caitlyn. One greatgranddaughter Brooke and a large circle of friends and relatives. The funeral service took place on Tuesday August 3, 2010 at St. Peters Anglican Church in Upper Island Cove, interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery Upper Island Cove.
CLARKE, Violet - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, August 1, 2010, Violet Clarke of Victoria, age 83 years. Predeceased by son: Bridle; daughters: Gladys and Ella; infant daughter; parents: Benjamin and Lucy Baker; brothers: Benjamin and Fred; sisters: Evelyn, Jessie, Elizabeth and Eva; step-brothers: Jack and Bill; stepsister: Julia. Left to mourn, husband: Pleman; seven daughters: Joyce (Ellis) Antle and Margaret (Fred) Martin, both of Victoria, Louella (Don) Barker, Edmonton, AB, Rosalind Reese, Ontario, Peggy (Roger Bennett), Edmonton, AB, Judy (Tony) Clarke, Victoria and Pamela (Roger) Durnford, Grande Prairie, AB; two sons: Randell (Marilyn) and Benjamin (Kathy), both of Victoria; twenty-four grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Albert Baker, Vancouver, BC; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rev. Jesse Bown conducted the funeral service on Wednesday, August 4 at the United Church, Victoria. Interment took place in the United Cemetery, Victoria.
