Alert of­fi­cers nab im­paired driver dur­ing drug ar­rest

It was two-for-one night in Har­bour Grace Aug. 10, but this was no in-store spe­cial.

Po­lice who were busy ar­rest­ing a man for traf­fick­ing at about 9:30 p.m. also ar­rested a sus­pected im­paired driver who was sit­ting in a parked ve­hi­cle at the lo­ca­tion of the orig­i­nal in­ci­dent.

Mem­bers of the Trin­ity Con­cep­tion District RCMP ar­rested a male from Har­bour Grace who was in pos­ses­sion of a quan­tity of Ec­stasy. The male is fac­ing charges of pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing in a con­trolled sub­stance and was re­leased with a court date in Oc­to­ber. A quan­tity of cash was also seized.

A sec­ond man was ar­rested for hav­ing care and con­trol of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle while be­ing im­paired. Po­lice say the man dis­played signs of im­pair­ment. He was later re­leased with a court date in Novem­ber.
