Clarke’s Beach woman faces fraud charges
A woman from Clarke’s Beach appeared in court last week to face a long list of fraud charges.
Trinity Conception District RCMP launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from the Department of Finance. The complaint indicated a 35-year-old female from the town was cashing and attempting to cash forged cheques in the Trinity Conception area.
As a result of further investigation, Lori Monahan was arrested. She was remanded in custody on approximately 27 outstanding charges.
The charges included forgery, uttering forged documents, thefts, and breaches of court orders.
Total losses to date, as a result of these crimes, are in excess of over $20,000.
Monahan appeared in court in Harbour Grace on the morning of Sept. 17, where she answered to the charges against her.
She was released from custody on a numbr of conditions.
Her next court appearance is set for Oct. 18.
