‘ Why can’t we get honourable members to send to Ottawa’

The Compass - - OPINION -

• Reason No. 2 — I grew up in a time before Confederation, when you didn’t have to have a license to do anything. You could catch any kind of fish without a license, cut wood without a license, etc. Today, you cannot do anything without paying for a license. We have no freedoms left.

It’s the long guns today. What next? Have to license your axe because an axe is a dangerous weapon. What about hunting and other knives?

Remember, all the robberies taking place in St. John’s at present time are committed with knives. Then it’s the baseball bat. People are killed with them, too. What about the drunk driver or the drivers who are driving recklessly? What do you do with them?

The Conservatives want to get rid of the long gun registry because that’s what the majority of rural Canada wants. The big cities want to keep it because their crime rate is so high and they don’t know how to stop it. Maybe less money on gun registry and more police on the streets.

The Liberals want to keep it
