Bay Roberts call cen­tre about to open

A new busi­ness, Ta­camor Bay Roberts Call Cen­tre, is about to throw open its doors.

The op­er­a­tion is lo­cated in the Braepar Build­ing, on the Con­cep­tion Bay High­way and for­mer home of the Bay Roberts pub­lic li­brary.

“It’s not your typ­i­cal kind of busi­ness ex­pan­sion story,” said Barry Snow, vice pres­i­dent of busi­ness devel­op­ment. “ There’s a re­ally good story be­hind all of this. It’s about a group from ru­ral New­found­land grow­ing their busi­ness and fo­cus­ing on ru­ral New­found­land.”

All mem­bers of the ex­ec­u­tive team are from ru­ral New­found­land, he added. Snow him­self is from Ochre Pit Cove.

Ta­camor was in­cor­po­rated in 2000. Since then, it has es­tab­lished call cen­tres, de­liv­er­ing cus­tomer ser­vice and tech­ni­cal sup­port for clients in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Co-founder and chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Ken Hann has over 30 years of ex­pe­ri­ence in se­nior in­for­ma­tion and com­mu­ni­ca­tion technology man­age­ment.

Chief fi­nan­cial of­fi­cer Larry Feltham brings to the busi­ness a gen­eral cor­po­rate back­ground and a knowl­edge of the in­for­ma­tion technology in­dus­try.

He was in­stru­men­tal in the start up and man­age­ment of sev­eral com­pa­nies. He also played a lead­ing role in the pri­va­ti­za­tion of New­found­land and Labrador Com­puter Ser­vices, now known as xwave.

Ta­camor’s main of­fice and call cen­tre are lo­cated in Pla­cen­tia. In ad­di­tion to the Bay Roberts call cen­tre, the com­pany has es­tab­lished mul­ti­lin­gual op­er­a­tions in Toronto.

The Ta­camor web­site ( http://www.ta­ prom­ises clients “ex­cep­tional call cen­tre ser­vices,” de­signed to “im­prove ... profit mar­gins.” It claims to do this “ by re­tain­ing more and hap­pier cus­tomers, win­ning new ones and re­duc­ing costs.”

The Bay Roberts fa­cil­ity has al­ready hired its com­ple­ment of em­ploy­ees.

“ We have a group up from New York this week, do­ing ini­tial train­ing,” Snow told The Com­pass last week. “ We have an­other group com­ing up from New York next week to do more in-depth train­ing with all the agents. So, the doors are un­locked, but the fa­cil­ity is not re­ally open yet.”

Once train­ing is com­plete, the call cen­tre will be hav­ing its of­fi­cial open­ing.
