Fun at the fire hall

The Compass - - TRINITY SOUTH -

The Carbonear Volunteer Fire Department staged a very successful open house on Wednesday, Oct. 6. Organizers say some 400 children from the area visited the hall and received loot bags, hotdogs, rides on the truck and much more. The event was part of Fire Prevention Week activities, which concluded with the department’s annual firemen’s ball on Saturday night. This year’s theme was “ Smoke alarms, a sound you can live with.”

Sparky the Fire Dog also made an appearance, to the delight of the children like Autumn Lambert. The big fire trucks were an attraction for the children. Here, Luke and Ben Parker (front, left to right) and volunteers Danielle Thomas and Hilary Crawford (back) smile from the cab of the fire truck.
