Police remain on the hunt for some thieves who have an unusual way of getting geared up for a camping trip.

A 25-foot Fleetwood travel trailer — white with brown and gold stripes — was taken sometime between Friday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 3 from a secluded gravel road just off Veterans Memorial Highway, near the intersection with Roaches Line.

The owner parked the trailer on Oct. 1, with plans to tow it to his home in New Harbour. Police say the trailer was gone when he pulled into the site on the morning of Oct. 3.

RCMP Const. Gregory Francis of the Trinity Conception District RCMP said it’s an unusual case.

“It’s happened in the past, but it’s the first time I’ve encountered something this big being stolen,” Francis said. The trailer is a 2007 model. Anyone with information can contact the RCMP at 596-5014, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
