Bay Roberts makes significant investment into proposed business park
The race to attract new businesses to the region got a little more intense last week after the Town of Bay Roberts approved the spending of $171,000 for the purchase of 22 acres of Crown land in the town.
And that’s just the beginning, say town officials.
The town had been in negotiations with the province for some time over the land, with the province demanding “ fair market value” for the parcel just south of the Conception Bay Access Road, in between Country Road and Veterans Memorial Highway.
The town plans to ready the land for commercial development, beginning in 2011, and Mayor Glenn Littlejohn said the proposed business park could grow much larger in the future as the town acquires additional land in the area, or partners with private landowners.
Ron Delaney, economic development director for the Town of Bay Roberts, walks past the site of a proposed new business park. It is located just off Veterans Memorial Highway, on the Conception Bay Access Road.
