Victoria ladies round the bases
League completes another successful season
A team sponsored by Commonwealth Property Management captured the championship recently in the Victoria ladies’ softball league with a narrow 10-9 victory over Baker’s Property Landscaping Services.
The final was played Saturday, Sept. 25, bringing to an end another successful season for the five-team league.
Commonwealth also won the regular season points race, with Baker’s finishing second. Barrett’s Saw Mill placed third, The Victoria Voice entry was fourth, and Button’s Contracting rounded out the standings.
Commonwealth earned a berth in the final with a 17-12 semi-final victory over Victoria Voice, while Baker’s outlasted Barrett’s 16-10 in the other semi-final.
The championship game was a close affair, with big hits, great catches and double plays, organizers say.
League games were played Monday and Wednesday nights, with double-headers on both nights. League officials extended thanks to all players, sponsors, umpires and committee members for ensuring another successful season.
