Table tennis club wins medals
The CBN Table Tennis Club managed to put together some impressive results at the Newfoundland and Labrador Table Tennis Association’s Central Open in Springdale, held Oct. 23.
In the junior categories, a pair of team members won double-gold. Elizabeth Hicks was the top player in both under-18 girls and the championship female competitions, while Nick Hiscock won gold in the under-15 boys and E-rate singles categories.
In the senior division, Jerry Hiscock won gold in both the A-rated singles and under-40 male events. Dave Milley took gold in the 40-and-over men’s division and silver in A-rated singles.
Three more players won silver medals: Adam Hiscock in C-rated singles, Clifford Smith in B-rated singles, and Tony Smith in under-40 men’s.
The Carbonear-based club will be keeping busy in preparation for the Eastern Open, which it will host Nov. 20 at Carbonear Collegiate. Matches will get underway at 9 a.m.
