What a year!

2010 presents lots of fodder for annual Revue

The Compass - - TRINITY SOUTH -

To say 2010 was a year like no other would be an understatement.

Hurricane Igor blew in like a lion, leaving floods and havoc across the land. And Hurricane Danny went out like a lamb, leaving a leadership vacuum at Confederation Building.

Even the Rising Tide crowd, who put together the annual Revue, have been left traumatized by it all. Mark Critch is climbing the walls at 22 Minutes. How could Danny leave us? It’s going to be a grand old Irish Tory wake at Revue this year, with the man himself coming up out of the coffin.

You won’t believe who shows up! So many memories! Tears in Newfoundland; rejoicing in the streets of Ottawa and Quebec; and the Night of The Living Dead in the caucus. And that’s only Danny. There will be the ‘ battle’ for the leadership; the makeover of the new kinder and gentler Jerome — after the doctors get him on the operating table. Then there are the looming questions. Where will the waters from Muskrat go? Will WikiLeaks reveal Cabinet’s secret e-mails? Will Cecilia get her bear this year? Will Poppy end up at the senior’s home? What will life be like with three women at the helm of the three provincial political parties?

Revue 2010 promises all the answers. But it’s not all politics.

Follow the antics of the hurricane survivors — no power, no food, but the army everywhere. Watch as they hunt for any moose left standing. Lick your chops as Purity Factories runs out of hard tack and fish ‘ n brewis is no more.

Follow Nanny and Poppy as they try to get into the seniors’ home, and lots more.

Trinity Conception audiences will have a chance to catch Revue 2010 when it comes to the Princess Sheila NaGeira Theatre in the Conception Bay Regional Community Centre in Carbonear next week.

Revue’s annual visit to Carbonear opens Jan. 18 and runs until Jan. 23

Revue 2010 was created by Donna Butt, Rick Boland, Glenn Downey, Rory Lambert, Amelia Manuel, Jim Payne, Tina Randell, John Sheehan and Berni Stapleton.
