Lo­cals nab ECMA nom­i­na­tions

A trio of record­ings with ties to the Trin­ity-Con­cep­tion re­gion will be vy­ing for hard­ware at the 2011 East Coast Mu­sic Awards, be­ing held in Char­lot­te­town, P. E. I., April 13-17.

Lead­ing the way with two nom­i­na­tions is Car­bon­ear na­tive Duane An­drews. His self-ti­tled col­lab­o­ra­tion with Cape Bre­ton fid­dler Dwayne Côté, a col­lec­tion of gypsy jazz record­ings, will be up for In­stru­men­tal Record­ing of the Year and Jazz Record­ing of the Year.

The Once, which fea­tures Co­ley’s Point na­tive An­drew Dale, re­ceived a nom­i­na­tion for Group Record­ing of the Year in hon­our of its self-ti­tled de­but al­bum.

Fi­nally, The Idlers will hope to re­turn home with a win in the World Record­ing of the Year cat­e­gory. The band’s reg­gae al­bum, Keep Out, fea­tures Car­bon­ear’s Cur­tis An­drews and Paul Schi­ralli-Earle.
