Rovers skate to atom title
Finishes with unbeaten record at atom B even in Bonavista
The Bay Arena Atom “B” Rovers participated in the Bonavista Trinity Minor Hockey Association atom B invitational hockey tournament on the weekend of Jan. 15-16.
The Rovers went undefeated in the seventeam tournament, and claimed gold with a 53 win over Clarenville No. 2 in the championship game. The Rovers had built up a 5-0 lead, and held on for the victory, with goaltender William Seymour being named player-of-the-game. Darcy Dawe scored twice for the victors. The Rovers opened the tournament with a 9-9 tie against Clarenville No. 1. Player-of-thegame for the Rovers was Joshua Mercer.
In the second game the Rovers defeated Gander 6-4, with Tye Rena-Clarke earning player-of-the-game honours.
The Rovers finished the round-robin with a 4-3 win over the CeeBees from Harbour Grace, earning a spot in the championship game. Player of the game went to Robbie Craig.
The Rovers atom B team representing the Bay Arena Minor Hockey Association in Bay Roberts claimed gold at an invitational tournament in Bonavista on Jan. 15-16.
