Rovers skate to atom ti­tle

Fin­ishes with un­beaten record at atom B even in Bon­av­ista

The Bay Arena Atom “B” Rovers par­tic­i­pated in the Bon­av­ista Trin­ity Mi­nor Hockey As­so­ci­a­tion atom B in­vi­ta­tional hockey tour­na­ment on the week­end of Jan. 15-16.

The Rovers went un­de­feated in the sev­en­team tour­na­ment, and claimed gold with a 53 win over Clarenville No. 2 in the cham­pi­onship game. The Rovers had built up a 5-0 lead, and held on for the vic­tory, with goal­tender Wil­liam Sey­mour be­ing named player-of-the-game. Darcy Dawe scored twice for the vic­tors. The Rovers opened the tour­na­ment with a 9-9 tie against Clarenville No. 1. Player-of-thegame for the Rovers was Joshua Mercer.

In the sec­ond game the Rovers de­feated Gan­der 6-4, with Tye Rena-Clarke earn­ing player-of-the-game hon­ours.

The Rovers fin­ished the round-robin with a 4-3 win over the CeeBees from Har­bour Grace, earn­ing a spot in the cham­pi­onship game. Player of the game went to Rob­bie Craig.

The Rovers atom B team rep­re­sent­ing the Bay Arena Mi­nor Hockey As­so­ci­a­tion in Bay Roberts claimed gold at an in­vi­ta­tional tour­na­ment in Bon­av­ista on Jan. 15-16.
