‘ Without law and order we would all be living a life of emptiness’

The Compass - - EDITORIAL OPINION -

Dear editor,

We live in a society now where there is but very little respect for people, their personal belongings and their lives. We are discovering that without law and order we would all be living a life of emptiness.

All this emptiness is a fear and lack of trust for those around you. There is that fear of being tied by your hands and legs like in the old movies with a gag over your mouth, while the robbers searched your home and ran off with your belongings under your watchful eyes. They call this home invasions whereas in the old movies they called it robbery by robbers on horsebacks.

As one elderly lady of 99 years of age noted, “ we are living in a different society today, where the values of people are different, because they are from different cultures where they once had nothing and now they want everything, even the belong- ings of others no matter at what cost. They once stole vegetables from your garden because it was just for a prank, or they were hungry, you didn’t miss the vegetables so much.

“ Now, they want to steal your home and everything in it while you are sleeping or out shopping. They just don’t care whether you are home or not. You discover later, if you live to tell the story that our society is taking a beating from the greed of others, who are either des- perate in their own lives or were transplanted on our doorsteps by our own community leaders, who have a blind eye to different values of people who were born thousands of miles from our own roots and let go to wander in our society with greedy, violent traits that are given sympathy and told you are now in a land of plenty, so help yourself.

“ This doesn’t mean that all people coming to our country are like this, but the freeloaders are plen- ty and destroying our society, even under our law and order.”

In conclusion, they lack respect and value of life and consider the belongings of others as unworthy until they have completely destroyed it all. Who can we really trust today, even under the watchful eye of our security system, which is the best in the world?
