MCCARTHY, Ed­ward — Passed peace­fully away at his res­i­dence on Satur­day, Jan­uary 8, 2011, Ed­ward McCarthy of Glover Road, River­head, Har­bour Grace, age 79 years. Pre­de­ceased by par­ents: Felix and Alice McCarthy; grand­son: Barry McCarthy; three broth­ers: Charles, Joseph and Wil­liam; two sis­ters: Mar­garet and Agnes; broth­ers-in-law: Wil­liam Bow­man, James O’Neill and Ger­ald Rus­sell; sis­ter-in-law: El­iz­a­beth McCarthy. Leav­ing to mourn, wife: Ruth; one daugh­ter: Dianne ( Kirk) Peach, Har­bour Grace; three sons: James (Sherry), David ( Joan) and Brian (Glo­ria), all of Har­bour Grace; four grand­chil­dren: Deanne, Charles (Melanie), Kevin (Lind­say) and Kyle; two great-grand­chil­dren: Kyle and Jake; two broth­ers: Justin, Har­bour Grace and James ( Josephine), Toronto, ON; one sis­ter: Nel­lie Rus­sell, Goose Bay; sis­ter-in-law: Laura McCarthy, Glace Bay, NS; also a large num­ber of other relatives and friends. A pri­vate fam­ily visi­ta­tion was held at Noel’s Fu­neral Home, Har­vey Street, Har­bour Grace. At Ed­ward’s request cremation has taken place with a church ser­vice and burial to be an­nounced at a later date.

Rested at Noel’s Fu­neral Home, Wa­ter Street, Car­bon­ear. Rev. Jesse Bown con­ducted the fu­neral ser­vice on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 5 at the United Church, Vic­to­ria.
